Important Abilities: Video below for attack animations

Rage: If the mobs summoned by the boss are not killed by the players, the mobs will give boss a damage increase buff. The damage increase buff can be stacked, and after a certain number of stacks, the boss will rage.

Whip: Boss will periodically use whip attack, if hit by the wipe, will receive a bleeding de-buff. (This cannot be dispelled.)

Roar: Boss will periodically use roar attack, if hit by the roar attack, will receive a de-buff. (This can be dispelled.)

Summoning Buffed Mobs:

Buffed Mobs will spawn periodically during the raid. The mobs will be summoned in waves, and the number of mobs summoned per wave will increase gradually.

  1. Poison Mob: when killed, a giant poison field will appear, lasting a long time, when touched by the poison field; you will most likely instantly die.
  2. Speed Mob: mobs that are extremely fast
  3. CC-Immune Mob: mobs that cannot be cc-ed, they have less HP and defense.
  4. Normal Mob: Normal Mob has high HP and defense.
  5. Ritual Mob: when killed, a ritual will appear. When Giant Mob appears, he will create a summoning portal at the location of the ritual. (Summoning portal will summon a normal mob)

Summoning Giant Mob: have high HP and defense.

 

Position of Players: (where to stand)

?Position: Second tank stand in this position. Second tank gather up the mobs quickly and second tank’s team need to immediately AOE the mobs. (Second tank’s team should focus dpsing mobs that have the same speed.)

?Position: dps’s stand in this position. All dps stand together on one side, if poison field appears, all dps need to move to the other side.

Triangle Region: Main tank stand in this position. Main tank normally stand still and remain stationary on the spot when tanking. When Giant Mob appears, if the dps cannot instantly kill the Giant Mob, main tank should lure the boss around in circles in this Triangle Region in order to delay the boss from consuming the Giant Mob.
Team Composition

Recommend Composition: 2 Tank, 2 Healer, 2 BM(Blademaster), 4 dps

 

Priorities and Handling Emergency Situation:

(In order to handle emergency situation, the team requires tacit mutual understanding and cooperation. Every individual team member should prioritize finishing their own assigned tasks, then helping teammates. )

Dealing with Buffed Mobs: (Over-geared and high dps team can ignore this section)

  1. Prioritize Speed Mob and CC-Immune Mob. (kill CC-Immune Mob using heavy dps, CC the Speed Mob then kill after)
  2. Speed Mob and CC-Immune Mob must be killed immediately. Occultist can switch position with a Poison Mob then kill him after.
  3. Swordmage should root/freeze Speed Mob in place; Gunslinger should focus on CC-Immune Mob.
  4. Second tank should dodge immediately after killing the Poison Mob to avoid the poison field.
  5. Mobs that are difficult to kill should be killed using high damage skills.

 

Dealing with Giant Mob: (Over-geared and high dps team can ignore this section)

  1. Need to kill the Giant Mob within a certain period of time, otherwise the boss will consume the Giant Mob.
  2. Should try to make boss use Roar Attack and Whip Attack on Giant Mob. When Giant Mob is hit by Roar or Whip Attack, he will get a de-buff.
  3. When Giant Mob appears, if the dps cannot instantly kill the Giant Mob, main tank should lure the boss around in circles in this Triangle Region in order to delay the boss from consuming the Giant Mob. (Lure boss far away, let boss charge to the outside boundary, lure boss and position the boss in a way that will prevent the boss from consuming the Giant Mob.)

 

The Overall Plan:

  1. The mobs will be summoned in waves, and the number of mobs summoned per wave will increase gradually. Therefore, the fewer waves of mobs summoned, the easier the run will be. This depends heavily on the dps capabilities of the team.
  2. According to the timer, choose to kill the mobs immediately before or after the Wipe or Roar Attack.

 

Tips (Afterthoughts): 

  1. Killing this boss requires some luck. If you’re unlucky, the battle field will be filled with poison field.
  2. DPS should stand together on one side, and receive group healing from healers.

Altar of Swords: Boss 2

 


According to the diagram above:

The above image uses boss’s position as reference point. During 3*Star run, mobs’ spawning point is stationary and the buffs on the mobs are random. Therefore everyone should position themselves according to the tank’s position. (Everyone should stand near the spawning location of the mobs.)

 

Important Abilities: Video below for attack animations

Rage: Main tank should lure the boss to face the outer boundary, away from teammates. Boss will rage after a certain period of time.

Blade Circle: if hit by Blade Circle, will receive a de-buff. (This can be cleansed)

Lightning Bolt: Absorb this head on.

Roll Call: As soon as mobs spawn, boss will use this skill.

Heaven’s Judgement: Boss will use this skill after a certain decrease in HP. This skill will fill the whole battle field with lightning, only players standing in the blue Lightning Resist Circle will be immune to this attack.

Million Swords Punishment: whole field randomly spawn dropping lightning, if hit by this skill, will receive a de-buff.

Buffed Mobs: 

If the mobs are killed before they self-destruct, at the location where they died, there will appear a blue Lightning Resist Circle. If the mobs are not killed after a certain period of time, they will self-destruct. If u cannot see the blue Lightning Resist Circle, you might need to relog.

  1. Revenge Mob: will aggro healer as first priority, if hit by him, will receive heavy MP decrease.
  2. Magic & Physical Resist Mob: These mobs’ body are covered in spikes; you will receive damage when near them. They also use magic orb attack.

 

Team Composition

Recommend Composition: 1 Tank, 2 Healer, 2 BM(Blademaster), 1 Occultist, 4 dps

 

Priorities and Handling Emergency Situation:

(In order to handle emergency situation, the team requires tacit mutual understanding and cooperation. Every individual team member should prioritize finishing their own assigned tasks, then helping teammates. )

Lightning Resist Circle(Blue Circle) Distribution: Main Tank stands in one circle alone. Main healer stands in the circle at Position 1. Every other circle should be filled with a maximum of two players. Should try to get 6 circles. (If there are not enough circles, players with Soulstones should die then revive afterwards.)

Position Distribution: As illustrated by the image above, long range dps should spread out, kite mobs, and kill mobs as fast as possible. The image above illustrated one possible formation a team can execute.

Dealing with Buffed Mobs:

  1. Return debt as should as possible.
  2. Mobs close to main tank should be killed by Blademasters. When first wave of mobs spawn, prioritize killing mobs at Position 5 to give main tank a Lightning Resist Circle(Blue Circle) to stand in. Blademasters can choose to help others after. Position 6 is where Blademasters stands.
  3. As illustrated by the diagram above, you should try to spread out Lightning Resist Circles (Blue Circle). If the circles are too close, you will receive splash damage from other lightning.
  4. Should also prioritize clearing mobs at Position 1, to give the main healer a Lightning Resist Circle (Blue Circle) to stand in. Main healer needs to be in a position to heal the main tank.
  5. Due to the fact that healers do not kill mobs, they should be extra careful to memorize which blue circle they should stand in.
  6. When the mobs spawn, dps should check the name of the mobs before attacking.
  7. Each individual assigned task should be made according to the composition of the team. (ie. Who kill which mob)
  8. When killing mobs, make sure to be weary of magic orb attack by the mobs. When mob charge at you, you might instantly die when you get hit by both the charge and the magic orb.

 

Dealing with Heaven’s Judgement: (Make sure there is enough blue circles)

  1. Preparing for Heaven’s Judgement: Main healer should enter the blue circle first and prepare.
  2. Everyone should be ready to withstand either Million Swords Punishment (dodge lightning from the sky) or Heaven’s Judgement (stand in blue Lightning Resist Circle)
  3. Everyone should be ready to dodge immediately after lightning finishes. Use potions when necessary.

Dealing with Million Swords Punishment:

As illustrated by the diagram, everyone should spread out and run in circles to avoid the falling lightning. Main healer should stand in the position indicated and dodge left and right. (No need to worry about intersecting with teammates.)

The Overall Plan:

The first wave usually is 2 waves of mobs and will create 6 locations to avoid Heaven’s Judgement (blue circle). The second wave might have another wave of mobs, to create more locations for blue Lightning Resist Circle. Beware of second wave. Everyone should be ready to withstand either Million Swords Punishment (dodge lightning from the sky) or Heaven’s Judgement (stand in blue Lightning Resist Circle) Afterwards, continuing dpsing the boss and kill mobs.

 

Tips: (Afterthoughts)

  1. Be ready to use potions, try to help healers by using your own potions and pills. Do not try to save potions.
  2. This raid makes it difficult for healers to heal everyone, prepare lots of your own potions and buffs.

 

Altar of Swords: Boss 3

 

 

 

Important Abilities: Video below for attack animations

Rage: If the two Humanoid Mob are not dpsed down using the correct order and boss summons boss 3, the boss will rage

Sword Dance: Boss swing both swords in circles, if hit by this skill, will receive burning de-buff. (This de-buff can stack)

Fire Wall: Boss face player, draws his sword in a line, a fire wall will appear in the path (this last for a certain period of time), if touched by this skill, will receive burning de-buff. (This de-buff can stack)

8 Combo Strike: Boss performs 8 strikes continuously; one after another, in eight directions, counter clockwise, if hit by this skill, will receive massive damage, and be stunned.

Suicide Fire Mob: periodically boss will spawn a Suicide Fire Mob. Whoever got the aggro of the Suicide Fire Mob will be marked by a green arrow on top of his head. The Suicide Fire Mob will travel towards that position and explode. Whoever is in the blast radius will be stunned. (Approximately 3 sec stun)

Lava Fire: When the sixth person appears on boss’ aggro list (could also be healer), boss will use this skill. If touched by this skill, you will receive massive damage. (Normally when this happens, the run is almost over)

Roll Call: After 90% HP, boss will randomly select a player, when selected; you will be rooted in place, after a few seconds, you will receive massive damage. Four or more teammates should gather and stand together with the rooted person and share the incoming damage. Boss will only select a player far away from him. (Does not select player near him)

Furious 8 Combo Strike: Boss will use this attack when he has low HP, (After he reach a certain HP, he will use this attack) randomly face a player, starting with that direction, perform a counter clockwise 8 Combo Strike.

Burning De-buff: According to the number of stacks of Burning De-buff a player has, the player will receive a burning effect and continuously decrease in HP. The maximum number of stacks is 15. After 15 stacks, if you add one more stack, it will become 1 stack again. (Cycles)

 

Team Composition

Recommend Composition: 1 Tank, 2 Healer, 2 BM(Blademaster), 5 dps

 

Position of Players: (where to stand)

As illustrated in the diagram, colors represent classes, at the center, BM tank the main boss (pick the BM with highest dps). Vanguard tank the left Humanoid Mob, BM tank the right Humanoid Mob. The rest of the classes stand at safe spot of Position 1, when starting to dps down the boss, two dps who are responsible for dpsing the boss, should stand in the blue spot (Swordmage or BM). The two secondary tanks should lure the Humanoid Mobs into the inner circle, and tank them there, the two secondary tanks should make sure their skills won’t hit the boss, to ensure stable aggro, (should give up using certain AOE attacks)
Priorities and Handling Emergency Situation:

Dealing with Suicide Fire Mob:

Apart from Swordmage (if targeted by Suicide Fire Mob, teleport to Position 3), the rest of dps and healer group and stay close together at Position 1, whoever gets targeted by Suicide Fire Mob should immediately move to Position 3 (wait until Suicide Fire Mob explodes then return to original position, no need to jump)

Dealing with Fire Wall:

When boss is about to swing his sword, move from Position 1 to Position 2 to avoid the Fire Wall.

Dealing with Humanoid Mob: 

  1. dps the left Humanoid Mob down to slightly above 40% HP
  2. dps the right Humanoid Mob down to 20% HP (the right Humanoid Mob will recover HP)
  3. dps the left Humanoid Mob down to 20% HP
  4. dps the right Humanoid Mob down to slightly above 40% HP (the right mob has already recovered to full HP)
  5. dps the left Humanoid Mob down to 20% HP (the left Humanoid Mob will recover HP)
  6. do this cycle three times, the number of cycles depends on the dps capability of the team.

Dealing with 8 Combo Strike:

  1. before the 3rd wave of mobs, dodge at safe spot, continue dpsing the mobs
  2. the assigned two high dps class who stand at blue position, should use self-invulnerable skills to avoid
  3. when 8 Combo Strike occurs, the two secondary tanks should immediately exit the inner circle and travel toward safe position  4 and 5, after the skill is finished, they should immediately return to the original position

Dealing with Roll Call: 

  1. Due to the fact that everyone else is in the inner circle, boss can only Roll Call the two healer and the three dps (at Position 1 or 2) , whoever received the Roll Call, everyone else should gather together to share damage.
  2. If Suicide Fire Mob first then Roll Call, whoever Suicide Fire Mob targeted should move to position 3, after the explosion should come back to the group to share damage.
  3. If Roll Call first then Suicide Fire Mob, whoever received the Roll Call should move to position 3
  4. If Suicide Fire Mob and Roll Call is the same person, give up and just leave the group and die by yourself.

Dealing with Furious 8 Combo Strike:

This will trigger when boss drops below certain amount of HP. The leader should warn everyone. Everyone should watch for the attack animation and the direction he is facing. Immediately use self-invulnerable skills to avoid this. (BM need to watch for the timing of the boss attack, use the self-invulnerable skills at the right moment, if used too early, your self-invulnerable skill will expire before boss hits you)

 

The Overall Plan:

Dps the two Humanoid Mob in order, the above guide is very detailed, everyone should just step by step execute their assigned tasks, as long as you lived, you pass)

 

Tips (Afterthoughts): 

  1. This should be the easiest boss. Almost every moment during the run is stationary dpsing.
  2. The direction the boss is facing and watching boss’ skill animation is very important.

Altar of Swords: Boss 4

Disclaimer:

  1. Battle flow of this boss is not very clear
  2. Red and blue mechanics is not explained
  3. This guild assumes you did the raid many times, some mechanics is impossible to translate without doing this boss 

 

Important Abilities: Video below for attack animations

Boss: boss comes out after killing mobs from the original position (Star Position)

Soul Crusher: give player a layer of Soul Crusher de-buff

Million Pain: full screen attack, if red and blue doesn’t match, instant death

Slaughter Feather: high damage attack, if hit by this skill, will receive massive damage and be silenced for 3 seconds (or 2s). This skill is often chained after Million Pain attack.

Sky Slash:  if hit by this skill, the player will be displaced backward for a certain distance, and will receive some DOT damage

Instant Death: within 5m for the boss, player has a chance to get hit by this attack, if hit by this skill, will receive instant death

 

Team Composition

Recommend Composition: 2 Tank, 2 Healer, 2 BM(Blademaster), 4 dps

 

Position of Players: (where to stand)

As illustrated by the diagram, tank and two healers stand at Position 6, and everyone else stand at the center. Start the run, healers heal, tank get aggro, everyone try to save up Special Skill energy, after killing the mobs, surround and attack the boss at Position 5.

 

Priorities and Handling Emergency Situation:

(In order to handle emergency situation, the team requires tacit mutual understanding, cooperation, and intelligence. Every individual team member should prioritize finishing their own assigned tasks. That is all.)

Team Formation Management: 

The team position and formation illustrated by the diagram is just an example, teams should innovate themselves. (Only after matching red with blue, will labouring not be tiresome.)

Dealing with Positioning:

  1. After the boss use Soul Crusher skill, everyone should immediately look at their positioning. Everyone should recognize by themselves where they should stand.
  2. Whoever is luring the boss should lure properly within the assigned proximity.
  3. Tank can go grab the aggro to ensure the positioning of the boss.
  4. Pay attention to the chat channels.
  5. Soul Crusher and Million Pain should be called out by the leader.
  6. The entire run will switch team color 3 or 4 times.
  7. The boss will use Soul Crusher first then immediately afterwards will be Million Pain. This will happen very often. (second time everyone should position themselves to dodge Million Pain)
  8. Accidental deaths should only occur after Soul Crusher attack.
  9. Healer should use relevant skills at the relevant time and at the relevant position.
  10. Changing into fox should depend on player’s preference. (Cool down time of the skill is sufficient)

 

Dealing with Mobs:

General Instruction:

-after boss goes under certain HP, four special mobs, WIND, WOOD, FIRE, MOUNTAIN buffed mobs will appear (there is two waves of them)

-one healer stand at Position 5 and heals to get aggro of the mobs and gather them up together along with the boss, then everyone AOE them at the same time.

Detailed Instructions:

-one healer with high physical defense and magic defense should lure mobs (by healing players)

-second healer should focus on healing the tank

-dps should use Special Skills to AOE the mobs after healer gather them up

-do the same thing with the second wave of mobs

-the death of team members should not exceed two people during this time

-after killing the mobs, there is enough time to revive people

 

Important Tips:

  1. Swordmage cannot use self-invulnerable skill during boss’ Million Pain attack.
  2. Gunslinger should use defense increase skill during boss’ Million Pain attack.
  3. Before Million Pain skill is over, boss often use other chain attacks. Everyone should focus on surviving. Swordmage can use self-invulnerable skill during this. Blademaster can use self-invulnerable skill during this. Gunslinger should use defense increase skill to withstand this. Healer can transform into fox to survive this. Use potions appropriately.

 

The Overall Plan:

If you stand at the wrong position, you die. (Need to wipe and restart.) Boss has very few skills, but it’s very easy to die. Gear score is not enough, beating this boss can be based on luck.

 

Tips (Afterthoughts): 

  1. Beating this boss depends heavily on gear and luck.
  2. Sometimes you can die, even if you did zero mistake.

 

Altar of Swords: Boss 5

 

Boss does not retaliate, mobs are the real danger, and the skills below are skills of both mobs and the boss.

Blink: randomly blink behind a player and attack, if hit, will receive massive damage, and a bleeding de-buff (This can be cleansed)

Body Piercing Attack: similar to boss 2’s lightning from the sky, if hit, will receive a certain amount of damage (When combo with Spirit Break, this skill becomes lethal, many players can die from this and not realize it)

Heart Piercing Attack: When you don’t have teammates nearby, if hit, will receive small amount of damage. When you have teammates nearby, if hit, will receive massive amount of damage or death.

Spirit Break: this skill takes the form of falling rocks, if hit, will receive a de-buff, last 3 or 4 seconds (cannot be cleansed)

5 Combo Slash: every slash does massive damage, two shot dps, three shot semi-tank, four shot full tank, this skill does splash damage in a line, so don’t stand behind the player being targeted, when boss smash the ground, double jump to avoid it (During the 5th slash, boss will raise the sword and smash it to the ground; if hit, instant death)

Clown: clown will randomly spawn during the run; has self-healing buff (no one can one shot him), when clown jump on you, you become a random cute animal (last 3 seconds)

Ghost: At 70% HP and 40% HP, boss will summon Ghosts at the four corner of the map as illustrated by the purple dots on the diagram, Ghosts are magic damage mobs and use magic ball attack, if not killed within a certain period of time, they will self-destruct, causing massive damage

4 Color Sword: if hit by this skill, will receive a special de-buff,

  1. Gold sword: You cannot use Special Attack
  2. Green Sword: Your HP will continue to decrease
  3. Red Sword: You cannot use physical damage attacks
  4. Blue Sword: Your magic damage will be reduced.

 

Team Composition

Recommend Composition: 2 Tank, 2 Healer, 2 BM(Blademaster), 4 dps

 

Position Distribution:

As illustrated by the diagram, the position of where everyone should stand, who should take the swords, and who should kill the mobs are all illustrated.  Whoever stands beside the center circle should watch for signs to determine the paths of the swords. (Don’t take the wrong sword) The dps who stand on the outside should watch for signs.

 

Priorities and Handling Emergency Situation:

Dealing with Ghost: 

After killing your own assigned mob, help others kill their. The Obsidian on the field should also be dealt with, but prioritize the 4 Ghosts.

Dealing with 4 color sword:

A player can only take one kind of sword. The screen will remind everyone of this skill. Everyone should watch for the location where their sword will appear and take their assigned sword. The leader should tell the team to hold the dps on boss until the swords are dealt with. (Haste makes waste.) The first wave have one sword, the second wave have two swords, to a maximum of four swords.

Arrows are the 4 Color Swords 

  • Yellow: Vanguard (Take Gold Sword)
  • Brown: Blademaster (Take Blue Sword)
  • Green: Healer (Take Green Sword)
  • Red: Gunslinger (Take Blue Sword)
  • Blue: Swordmage (Take Red Sword)
  • Indigo: Occultist (Take Gold Sword)

Dealing with 5 Combo Slash: 

As illustrated, everyone’s position is spread out (will not connect in a line), but due to constant combat and insufficient attack range, everyone will move more or less. Therefore, before the 5 Combo Slash, everyone should move to the outer ring in advance. This ensures that you will not die from 5 Combo Slash attack. Double jump at the right moment is also the key. (during the 5th slash, boss will raise the sword and smash it to the ground)

Dealing with Clown: 

Vanguard gets aggro from the Clown and saves Special Skill energy at black dot position. (Black dot position as illustrated) For the first two waves of mobs, when the average HP of the mobs goes below 70% HP, Clown’s self-healing buff will disappear. Blademasters should use their skills and immediately kill the Clown. For every other wave after the first two waves of mobs, when the average HP of the mobs goes below 45% HP, Clown’s self-healing buff will disappear.

 

Important Tips:

  1. Ghosts will self-destruct. (Instant death if hit) Killing the mobs very fast will bug the Ghost.
  2. When you get hit by Spirit Break, and receive a de-buff, remember to move away from your original position, otherwise you might instantly die. Spirit Break and Body Piercing Attack are randomly occurring attacks. When these two attacks hit you separately, the damage you receive is minimal. When you get hit by these two attacks at the same time, you will instantly die. (The chance of being targeted at the same time is low) You should take extreme caution when you have the Spirit Break de-buff, when you get hit by Body Piercing Attack, you die instantly.
  3. Dps should take caution and try to dodge avoidable skill to decrease the risk of dying. Healer should immediately cleanse the bleeding de-buff. (The de-buff is usually on melee players)

 

The Overall Plan:

  1. Dps boss, kill mobs, take sword
  2. Dps boss, kill mobs, take sword
  3. Dps boss, kill mobs, take sword
  4. Dps boss, kill mobs, take sword, dodge 5 Combo Slash
  5. Dps boss, kill mobs, take sword, dodge 5 Combo Slash
  6. Dps boss, kill mobs, take sword, dodge 5 Combo Slash

Tips: (Afterthoughts)

This boss’ mechanics appears to be complicated, but in reality is actually very simple. As long as everyone focus on completing their assigned tasks and not have any accidents, this boss will be very easy. (Comparatively to other bosses in Altar of Swords)
